It has been a remarkable thing for me to notice how many people have little care about their health. Yet the very same people are planning their financial security very carefully. They make sure that when they will retire they will be able to live comfortably financially for the rest of their life. This is certainly commendable. On the other hand, even if your are financially well established for the present and the future, are you going to be alive very long? What quality of life will you have if you are not healthy? In fact your life could be miserable ! Money cannot compensate for failing health. Money cannot compensate the fact that you cannot enjoy the activities that used to make you happy. Even with the progress of modern medicine, hospitalization, surgery, and taking medication with undesirable side effects this is an agenda that we all want to avoid. Many are a little fatalistic about it. These are the kind of comments that we frequently hear:

“If I do not die from one disease then it will be from another one, but the results will be the same.”

I have known people who were careless with their health and, yet they have lived for ninety years.”

Is that true ?

Now even though there are exceptions, our health is generally a reflection of our lifestyle and habits. A couple of years ago, I went to a chiropractor because I had a problem with my feet. Over time, jogging had taken it’s toll. While he was treating me, the chiropractor mentioned that many of his patients were telling him that when they were young, they were physically active. But most of them have abandoned physical activities as they reached their 30′s. He also added that the time we need to be physically active is when we reach our thirties. This had got me thinking. When we are young, we are naturally healthy. Our body can handle some abuses. But as we age, our body is less tolerant to unhealthy habits. By the time we reach our forties and fifties, the cumulative effects of these unhealthy habits start to show up with the appearance of different diseases. So the bottom line is the following:
